The Supp Digest | 60k Users In Pursuit of Better Sleep

In this issue of The Supp Digest, we’re diving into SuppCo community trends on a common wellness goal: sleep.
In Pursuit of Sleep
Quality sleep is a key pillar of health and wellness, so it’s no surprise that it’s a common goal when building a supplement stack. In fact, roughly 60,000 SuppCo users list sleep as one of their top health goals currently.
The CDC recommends adults get at least 7 hours of sleep each night, and their 2022 behavioral risk factors survey found that 39% of US adults fall short of that recommendation.
Supplements can play a helpful role when it comes to supporting sleep, and it’s clear that the SuppCo community is curious about which supplements might help. Let's take a look at what user anecdotes and community data show.
Community Guidance
Sleep is a common topic across user community posts, and many SuppCo users have shared their advice from their lived experience with their supplement sleep stacks.
💬 In this post on protocols for sleep, many users shared positive experiences with magnesium, L-theanine, and melatonin helping them with sleep goals.
💬 In this post on needing help with sleep, SuppCo users shared similar advice on supplements as well as other sleep routines like minimizing screen time and large meals before bed that have helped them fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
By the Numbers
The power of the SuppCo platform comes not only from being able to share our experiences with one another, but to also take a look at what the data and patterns show us. Looking at the 60,000 supplement stacks with sleep listed as a health goal, we see a couple of supplements that show up time and again:
1️⃣ Magnesium: 81% of users with sleep as one of their goals have magnesium in their stack
2️⃣ Ashwagandha: 29% of sleep-focused users have ashwagandha in their stack
3️⃣ L-Theanine: 23% have L-theanine in their stack
What’s equally interesting is what does not show up commonly in these stacks: melatonin. Less than 10% of users with sleep as a health goal have melatonin in their stack.
Expert Protocols
SuppCo’s Expert Protocols are another datapoint in the supplements for sleep story, and their guidance has strong overlap with SuppCo community dialogue and stack data:
The Support for Falling Asleep protocol recommends apigenin, L-theanine, and magnesium, and the Essential Sleep Support protocol adds ashwagandha to that list.
If you’re not sure where to start when building a supplement stack for a health goal, sleep or otherwise, Expert Protocols can be a great place to get started.
Popular Products
We covered the most popular magnesium products in the previous issue of The Supp Digest, so today we’ll take a look at the most popular ashwagandha and L-theanine products currently in SuppCo user stacks:
