Today we're sharing the next major step in our mission to bring real transparency to the supplement industry.

Meet TESTED by SuppCo — a first-of-its-kind certification program that independently verifies that the supplements you're buying off the shelf actually contain what they claim.

We are proud to announce the launch of this program with a group of the highest-quality brands in the industry, who have stepped up to have products anonymously purchased from their websites by SuppCo for testing: 

Thorne, Metagenics, Momentous, Designs for Health, Gaia, Solaray, Integrative Therapeutics, Fatty15, Tru Niagen and Pendulum.

Why TESTED by SuppCo is different 

Here's the thing most people don't realize about supplement certifications: the vast majority of them test products that come straight off the manufacturing line, selected by the brand or manufacturer itself. 

Think about that for a second. The brand picks the samples for  the certifying body, and those pristine, fresh-off-the-line products get tested. We think of that practice as “cherry-picking.”

As a customer, that’s not the product you purchase.  You’re buying a bottle that might have been the 70,000th product finished on day four of a production run.  It could have been sitting in a warehouse for 18 months before being delivered to your door. The conditions that product has been through are very different from a perfect sample pulled right off the production line for an audit.

TESTED by SuppCo validates the products you actually buy.

We anonymously purchase every supplement we test directly from the brand's website — just like you would.  We test the active ingredients in each product to make sure they match the label’s claims for identity and potency.

It's a simple concept, but it's a fundamental shift in how certifications should work — and it puts your interests first.

How TESTED by SuppCo works

Brands that are confident in their quality standards sign up for our certification program, agreeing to have their products secretly purchased and independently tested. From there:

We anonymously purchase each product from the brand’s website — the exact same way you would. No hand-picked samples. No heads-up.

We consult with our ISO 17025 accredited laboratories and brand quality teams to ensure we are running the right testing assays on the various active ingredients. 

Samples go to our ISO 17025 accredited lab partners — the global gold standard for analytical testing — where key active ingredients are tested for identity and potency against label claims.

If a result is inconclusive, we repeat the process with additional off-the-shelf samples. Only products that consistently meet or exceed 95% of their tested label claims earn certification.

Every certified product’s lab data will eventually be published transparently on SuppCo’s product pages, including analyte-level details, so you can see exactly what was tested and what the results were.

Certified products are retested annually to ensure ongoing compliance. Products that fall short don't keep the seal.

The best brands are stepping up

We’re excited that the first brands participating in TESTED by SuppCo are among the highest-rated TrustScore brands on our platform. 

These are brands like Thorne, Metagenics and Momentous that have invested in manufacturing excellence, transparent practices, and third-party testing long before SuppCo came along.

They don’t need to prove anything. But they’re stepping up anyway, because they believe in the same thing we do: that transparency should be the standard, not the exception. They’re willing to have their products anonymously purchased and independently tested — and they’re confident in the results.

TESTED + TrustScore: built to work together

You might be asking: does TESTED by SuppCo replace TrustScore? Not at all — it complements it.

TrustScore evaluates 35k+ products across over 30 quality attributes, covering manufacturing standards, certifications, testing benchmarks, and more. It tells you how a brand and product stack up on quality practices.

TESTED by SuppCo goes a step further with independent lab testing to verify that what’s on the label is actually in the bottle. The TESTED certification will be reflected in TrustScore as one of the 13 product certifications we track.  

Together, they give you two layers of confidence: one based on quality practices, and one based on SuppCo’s own lab results.

What’s next

The first wave of TESTED by SuppCo certified products are now visible in the app with the TESTED badge. As more brands join the program, you’ll see that seal appear across more of the products our community relies on.

One of our goals has always been to make transparent testing of real inventory a user expectation and an industry standard. With TESTED by SuppCo, we’re taking the biggest step toward that vision yet.
